AMY THOMPSON THERAPY
Psychotherapy, Counselling & Wellbeing
Therapy can find the key to unlock a more fulfilling and balanced life. We can learn to switch off the autopilot and find calm within ourselves. Having someone alongside us, when we are ready to make personal changes, is essential for support and growth.
We all need a space to explore our thoughts and feelings. We often wait until we are overwhelmed to seek this for ourselves. I believe therapy is an important element of self-care. Whether it's when we feel in a good place and want to keep it that way or when we know we feel out of balance mentally, emotionally or physically.
Life ebbs and flows, everything passes. What remains constant is our humanity. We all have an inbuilt need for connection and support to navigate life with all it brings.
What to expect from Therapy
If you are new to therapy, embarking on sessions can be daunting. We sit in a confidential space and create together a focus on what you would like to explore. There is no right or wrong and what needs to be spoken or expressed usually finds a way.
I use a humanistic approach to therapy, where my belief is that everyone is worthy of respect. My sessions are free of judgement and I welcome any topic. My aim is to empower you to find your answers and bring about the change you want.
I am a Qualified Practitioner in Counselling & Psychotherapy (BSc Hons, Dip TA Practice, MBACP Reg)
I run my Private Practice in a peaceful and comfortable garden room setting in Godstone, Surrey.
Our sessions are confidential and are a chance for you to share in a safe, judgement free space.
I have previous experience with St Catherine's Hospice, GP Surgeries in East Surrey and with The Awareness Centre, London.
Examples of topics covered:
Depression & Low Mood
Overall Wellbeing and Self-Care
I am a fully qualified, insured and accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, covered by membership with UKATA and BACP. Working in adherence to their codes of Ethics, Supervision requirements and Continuous Professional Development.
I am currently working towards completion of a CTA (Certified Transactional Analyst) qualification and an MSc in TA psychotherapy, I am a registered trainee member of UKCP.
I sometimes work alongside my therapy dog 'Ziggy' who is a fully assessed member of PetsAsTherapy charity. He is a gentle soul who has a fine attunement to people and their emotions. He is always happy to sit in on a therapy session to offer his support for those who request it (free of charge).
